Apart from this, oil should not be used on the head during these 15 days. One should also avoid using soap while bathing. This also angers the ancestors.

Stay away from meat and alcohol
According to the scriptures, only pure vegetarian food should be consumed during Pitru Paksha. One should stay away from consuming alcohol or non-vegetarian food. Doing so can make the ancestors angry. Which can hurt the family.
