Sri Lanka’s batter Kamindu Mendis became the first player who created history on one day of the second test against New Zealand on Thursday in Galle. He became the first person who record to score 50 plus in eight consecutive tests.

In the Sri Lanka vs New Zealand match, Sri Lanka has scored 306 runs for three wickets in 90 overs. Angelo Mathews returned unbeaten after scoring 78 runs and Kamindu Mendis returned unbeaten after scoring 51 runs. As he completed his fifty, he has registered  a world record of scoring 50 plus in eight consecutive test matches.

Mendis made his debut in 2022, scoring 61 in his only innings against Australia before being dropped from the side. He made a comeback in 2024 and has been breathing fire ever since. Mendis overall has 873 runs in 13 innings of eight Tests and has scored 812 in 12 innings (seven Tests) since making his comeback earlier in 2024.
