The former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Meja assembly seat of Prayagraj, Neelam Karvia, passed away late Thursday night in a private hospital in Hyderabad. She was around 50 years old. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya have expressed their condolences on Neelam Karvia 's passing. Dr. Vachaspati, MLA from the Bara assembly seat of Prayagraj, provided this information.
Dr. Vachaspati mentioned that Neelam Karvia had been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad about 10 days ago for a liver transplant, and her health suddenly deteriorated on Thursday night, leading to her passing. According to the information, she was suffering from liver cirrhosis. Neelam Karvia is survived by her husband Karvia, daughters Samridhi and Sakshi, and son Saksham. Karvia was elected from the Meja seat in 2017 on a BJP ticket. Neelam Karvia's husband and former BJP MLA from Bara assembly seat, Udaybhan Karvia, was released from Naini Central Jail on 25 July. Udaybhan, who was lodged in Naini jail for nearly 9 years, was released on the recommendation of the Governor.
Udaybhan Karvia has been found guilty of the murder of former Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Jawahar Yadav and has been sentenced to life imprisonment. According to Karvia's close friend, Manish Tripathi, it is anticipated that his body will be transported to Prayagraj on Friday afternoon.
CM and Deputy CM expressed condolences
The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh expressed their condolences on the passing of former MLA Karvia. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on the social media platform 'X' on Friday, saying, "The demise of former MLA of Meja assembly constituency Neelam Karvia ji is extremely sad. I pray to God to give a place to the departed soul in his lotus feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow.

State Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also expressed his sadness in a post on 'X', saying, "Extremely sad news has been received about the demise of a soft-spoken and popular leader, former MLA from Meja assembly of Prayagraj district Neelam Karvia ji. May God give a place to the departed soul in his lotus feet and give strength to the bereaved family and supporters in this hour of crisis."
