Types of lunar eclipses

There are three types of lunar eclipses. It depends on which line the Sun, Earth and Moon are in at the time of the event.

Total Lunar Eclipse

When the shadow of the earth falls on the entire surface of the moon, this condition is called total lunar eclipse. In such a situation, the moon appears red or pink in color. The spots on the moon are clearly visible when viewed from the earth.

Partial Lunar Eclipse

During a partial lunar eclipse, only a portion of the Moon enters Earth's shadow. It appears as if it is cutting through the surface of the Moon. Earth's shadow appears black on the part of the Moon facing Earth.

Penumbral Lunar Eclipse

The shadow or light outer part of the earth falls on the surface of the moon. This type of eclipse is not like the other two eclipses. It is a little difficult to see it. In a penumbral eclipse, no part of the moon is affected. Therefore, it is not kept in the category of eclipse.
