The National Bee Board (NBB) in collaboration with NABARD has also launched schemes for financial assistance for beekeeping in India. The government provides a subsidy of 80 to 85 percent to start this business.
How to earn money from beekeeping?
If you want, you can start a beekeeping business by taking 10 boxes. If you get 40 kg of honey per box, then the total honey you will get will be 400 kg. Selling 400 kg at the rate of Rs 350 per kg will earn Rs 1.40 lakh. If the cost per box comes to Rs 3500, then the total cost will be Rs 35,000 and the net profit will be Rs 1,05,000. This business grows 3 times every year with the increase in the number of bees. That is, a business that started with 10 boxes can have 25 to 30 boxes in a year.
If you want to do beekeeping on a large scale, then you can start this work by taking 100 boxes. If you get 40 kg of honey per box, then the total honey will be 4000 kg. Selling 400 kg honey at the rate of Rs 350 per kg will give Rs 14,00000. If the cost per box comes to Rs 3500, then the total cost will be Rs 3,40,000. Retail and other expenses will be Rs 1,75,000 (labor, travel, etc.). Therefore, the net profit will be Rs 10,15,000.
