Bahraich: The atmosphere of Bahraich is in great tension, after the violence during the immersion of the Durga puja. People are carrying sticks in their hands to set fire to hospitals, showrooms, and shops. They also set fire to the vehicle parked outside.

After the death of the youth, Ram Gopal Mishra, who died in the firing by people of a particular community during the Durga Puja procession. The people of Bahraich are in anger setting fire to the shops, showrooms, houses, and hospitals. 

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh holds a meeting with senior officials in Lucknow. CM Yogi said that those who are spreading rumors about the riot should be dealt with strictly and also the accused should be arrested as soon as possible. Following the instruction of CM Yogi, Heavy police force has been deployed in the area. the administration is shifting people from the violence-affected areas to another place. The police force is engaged in relief and rescue work. Every possible work is being made to normalize the situation. 

What Happened in Bahraich on 13 October?

On the evening of October 13, a procession was being taken out for Durga Idol immersion in Maharajganj town of Hardi police station area of Mahsi tehsil of Bahraich. This procession was passing through the locality of a particular community. It is alleged that during this time, a violent clash broke out between the two communities over playing DJ. Meanwhile, some people started pelting stones from the roofs and when opposed, they opened fire. During this, a youth named Ram Gopal Mishra got shot. About 15 people were injured in this violent clash. They were taken to the hospital, where doctors declared Ram Gopal Mishra dead. As soon news of Ram Gopal’s death spread. People came out on the streets with sticks and rods.
