 NEW DELHI : After a long period of time, a polar bear appeared in Iceland. A polar bear was shot because it was threatened for the local people. When the environment agency was consulted about the polar bear, they were against sending the animal form one place to another, after which this step was taken by them on 19 September.

The AP Westford police chief Helgi Jansen said that the polar bear was very close to a summer house, where there was an old woman. At the same time in fear the old women locked herself on the top floor because polar bear was finding something in the garbage. In terrified, old women contact her daughter with satellite link.

Other summer resident has left that place before but the women knew that this will be dangerous. Jansen said” but still she stayed”. According to Anna Svensdottir, director of the scientific collection at the Icelandic Institute of Natural History, white bears are not only the native to ice land, but sometimes they come to the grassland. In the past few weeks, several Icerock have been seen on the north coast. 

On 19 September which bear was killed was the first sighting in Iceland since 2016. This was only the 600th times since the 19th century. According to the report the weight of the bear is between 150 and 200 kilograms, it will be taken to the Icelandic institute of Natural History for the further study. The Safel bear also known as the polar bear and which is protected species in the country. Authorities could only take deadly action when they pose a threat for a human or the animal.
