Fahad Ahmad: The Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 are approaching, and discussions are underway regarding seat sharing among the allies of Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA). As of now, neither the ruling party nor the opposition has revealed their candidates or the number of seats they will contest. However, the allies have expressed their demands for certain seats in the assembly.

Nawab Malik, the leader of Ajit Pawar's NCP, is currently an MLA from Anushakti Nagar in Mumbai. The Samajwadi Party (SP) has also shown interest in contesting for this seat.

It has been reported that actress Swara Bhaskar's husband, Fahad Ahmed, wants to contest from Anushakti Nagar. As a result, the Samajwadi Party has demanded the Anushakti Nagar seat from the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Fahad Ahmed joined the Samajwadi Party two years ago in 2022. He currently serves as the president of the SP youth wing and has been involved in student organizations. Fahad was actively engaged in the fee waiver movement for backward class, scheduled caste, and tribe students.

Anushakti Nagar constituency was established in Mumbai in 2008. In the subsequent 2009 assembly elections, Nawab Malik emerged victorious from this seat. However, in the 2014 elections, he faced defeat at the hands of Shiv Sena's Tukaram Kate. Nawab Malik reclaimed the seat in the 2019 assembly elections. Presently, there is widespread speculation regarding the potential revocation of Nawab Malik's ticket, with rumours suggesting that his daughter might be nominated to contest in his stead.

This speculation arises from the allegations of money laundering against Nawab Malik, which resulted in his imprisonment for an extended period. Currently out on bail due to health reasons, Nawab Malik is facing open opposition from the BJP, further intensifying the discussions surrounding the possibility of his daughter being fielded as a candidate from this constituency.
