There have been reports of clashes between two groups during Ganesh Visarjan in Nagamangala in Mandya district of Karnataka. The tension between the two communities increased so much that the situation became extremely tense. The miscreants created a lot of ruckus. Paint shops, bike showrooms and clothes shops were set on fire. All these shops have been burnt to ashes. After this incident, both the groups started raising their religious slogans. Due to this, the tension in the town increased further. In Mandya, a pattern of stone pelting was seen similar to Surat. This incident happened near the Dargah located on Mysore Road on Wednesday night.

Police resorted to lathi-charge to control the situation after stone pelting and violent clashes during Ganesh idol immersion. After the stone pelting, people doing Ganesh Puja demanded action against other groups and demonstrated overnight near the police station. It is being said that some people including a policeman have been injured in the stone pelting and clashes. A large number of police forces have been deployed to control the situation. Police have imposed Section 144.

This is how the controversy started

This dispute started when the youth of Badrikoppalu village were taking out a procession for Ganesh Visarjan. When the procession was passing near a mosque in Nagamangala, stones were thrown at the procession from near the mosque. After which the situation worsened. Clashes broke out between the two communities. The situation worsened due to this incident and clashes started between the two communities. The miscreants vandalized shops and set two vehicles on fire. After this, there was a stir in the entire area. The police had to use mild force to disperse the crowd. Angry people of the Hindu community have demanded the arrest of the miscreants. At present, a high alert has been issued in the entire area.
