Tata Group's grocery delivery platform BigBasket is entering the consumer electronics category. The company said that it will launch its electronics category in partnership with Tata firm Croma. Under this, BigBasket will be able to deliver mobile phones, laptops, PlayStation consoles, microwaves, and more within 10 minutes. The company is preparing to start this new service with the delivery of iPhone 16 on September 20. The company has recently announced its move towards quick commerce.
You can also order an iPhone 16
BigBasket consumers in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai can order the iPhone 16 with ultra-fast delivery to their homes starting tomorrow. Hari Menon, Co-founder and CEO, of BigBasket, said, “We are thrilled to bring the iPhone 16 on our platform, marking the beginning of our foray into the electronics space. This is just the beginning - very soon, we will launch a wide range of top-tier electronics, available with our fast delivery service.”
BBdaily will be merged with the BigBasket app.
Moneycontrol had earlier reported that Tata's BigBasket subscription service BBdaily, which currently exists as a separate app, will be merged with the main BigBasket app in the coming months. The company is taking steps to strengthen its hold on India's fast-growing quick commerce market.
The company currently runs two apps: BigBasket (the main app) and BBdaily (the subscription service), but even within the main app, it has different windows. One for slotted 2-3 hour deliveries (BigBasket SuperSaver) and the other for 10-20 minute deliveries (BBnow). BigBasket is now planning to bring all its offerings into a single app.
This strategy is part of BigBasket's larger move to move away from a 2-3 hour delivery to a 10-20 minute delivery model. It is preparing to become a ppure-playquick commerce company as per the customer's preference.
